EPISODE 6

Highslide JS
Dr. Menkin is mentioned and the coffin containing his body is seen, but his body is actually never shown.

Highslide JS
Jacques Eloi Des Mondes’ wife’s name was Huaco, and her sister’s name was Raua. We learn that Jacques also romanced his wife’s younger sister, then she mysteriously died.

Highslide JS
In the flashback, Raua is portrayed by Dawn Greenhalgh, the same actress who portrays Dr. Alison Carr. This adds to the inference that the spirit of Jacques wants Dr. Carr, the sister of Jean Paul’s wife Erica, just as the original Jacques desired Raua, the sister of his wife, Huaco.

A different actress portrays Huaco in this flashback sequence as opposed to Patricia Collins, the actress who played her in the flashback sequence in episode one.
Highslide JS
The male quest at Jacques’ dinner table in the flashback sequence is named D’Anton. He is played, uncredited, by John Granik, who plays Dan Forrest in the present day episodes.

Highslide JS
Although it had been hinted at before, this episode is the first to explicitly show that Raxl is more than just a human servant. She is clearly shown in the flashback to the 1600’s, thus indicating that she is over 300 years old.

Jacques explains that there is a rumor of great treasure buried in the Coral Caves on Maljardin. This plot thread is never specifically followed up on.
Jean Paul (as Jacques) claims that Huaco was blown to her death from the cliffs by a strong wind. He mentions that Jacques chose to join his wife in death, implying that he committed suicide, which is not at all what happened.
In this episode, a pair of crossed swords can be seen on the far wall of the dining room, replacing the portrait that was there in episode 4.
In the sequence in which Raxl and Jean Paul/Jacques are in the family crypt, a camera can be seen over Raxl’s shoulder.

The full ending credits for this episode are missing.

EPISODE 7
Highslide JS
Holly’s roommate at Westley House is Dinah Heath. Dinah is played by actress Trudy Young, who will return to the series later, playing the character of Susan.

Highslide JS
Holly’s room at Westley House contains a “Keep off the Grass” and a “Make Love, Not War” poster, as well as a Peanuts calendar.

The wording on the Peanuts calendar reads “It’s Saturday, you blockhead”
The calendar in Dinah’s room shows that the month has 31 days in it, ending on a Sunday. If Strange Paradise is set in 1969 real time (which is never specifically established), then the only month where the 31st ends on a Sunday is August. This would coincide with the actual dates of filming, which began in mid-August of that year.
One way airfare from Westley House to Port French Leave costs $163.75, quite a sum in 1969 dollars.

Highslide JS
Holly orders a 7 and 7 in the bar at the Café.

The location of the café is Port French Leave
Highslide JS
The Café bartender’s name is Joe. In this episode, he is once again played by actor Bill Luxton, who played him in the pilot episode.

Highslide JS
The crossed swords on the wall in the dining room in the previous episode are now gone.
The theme music on the opening credits plays at a faster rate than in other episodes.

  EPISODE 8

The journey across the channel to Maljardin takes 30 minutes

Vangie mentions that her father was the priest who performed the ceremony that imprisoned Jacques’ spirit inside the conjure doll.
Highslide JS
According to Jean Paul (as Jacques), the painting over the fireplace is of Louise Sophie, Jacques’ great, great, great, great, great, great niece (although the nameplate on it clearly reads Marie Anne DesMondes, who lived in the 19th century).  The painting at the foot of the stairs is of Etian DesMondes, and the one along the stairs is of Solange DesMondes.
It is mentioned that Erica Carr died from Eclampsia, which is a real condition that affects pregnant women. It is caused by a defect in the placenta, is symptomless in the early stages and can cause circulatory disturbances in the mother (including high blood pressure) and growth problems in the baby. The only cure for it is actual delivery.

Highslide JS
When Jean Paul is recording a message to Erica in his secret room, he starts the tape and waits for a good 90 seconds before speaking into the microphone. In fact, he starts the tape rolling, then takes time to turn on the monitor screen and make adjustments before even picking the microphone up. He wastes some more tape after finishing his message to Erica by not bothering to turn the recorder off.

Highslide JS
In this episode, Dan Forrest is clearly wearing what looks like a wedding ring, yet in previous episodes it’s clearly established that he has more than a passing interest in Alison. Dan’s wife, if he indeed has one, is never mentioned.
Highslide JS
The same man who plays the hired thug chasing after Tim Stanton can be seen, disguised with a pair of glasses, dancing in the background in the French Leaf Café. Additionally, the actor who plays Sinclair in the Desmond Hall storyline shows up as a Café patron in the same sequence.
As Jean Paul (Jacques) tells Alison how silly it is to believe an ancestor has returned to possess him, he uses the example of how silly it would be if she said he had resurrected Louise Sophie, the girl in the painting over the fireplace. However, he refers to her as his “Great, etc. Niece,” which is technically correct coming from Jacques’ frame of reference, but is incorrect for Jean Paul to say. Louise is actually an ancestor and not a descendant. Alison does not pick up on this at all, despite being concerned about Jean Paul acting as if he were two different people.
Highslide JS
It is later established that the painting over the fireplace is that of Marie Anne Des Mondes, not Louise Sophie as Jean Paul/Jacques states
As Jean Paul descends the staircase, the shadow of a boom mike can clearly be seen on the wall opposite him.

EPISODE 9

Highslide JS
The Nine of Swords in the tarot deck is the card of death.

Vangie tells Tim she can always guess 13 out of 25 tarot cards she deals – due to her ESP.
It is implied in this episode that the Café, like Jean Paul's chateau, is also on an island, although not the same one as the chateau.
Highslide JS
During the scene when Holly talks to Tim at the Cafe, flies can be see buzzing both actors, including one that Sylvia Fiegel swats as it lands on her face.
During Tim’s conversation with Holly, he explains that the costs of his mother’s medical expenses, saying that “even the most cheap hospital is inexpensive.” That would be good, except that Tim was trying to explain how even cheap hospitals are “expensive”, which would explain his $7,500 debt.

Highslide JS
At the bar in the French Leave Café, Jean Paul orders a Scotch on the rocks, yet the drink he receives has no ice in it.

Following his agreement to paint Erica's portrait for Jean Paul, Tim is set to head to Maljardin at 5pm

EPISODE 10

According to Vangie, there are 180 boats for hire in an around the island of Maljardin and nearly 180 islands in the area.

Highslide JS
The boat dock is seen for the first time in this episode

When Quito is in the boathouse moving towards the boat, the boat’s engine can be heard starting up, despite the fact that Quito is nowhere near it.
Highslide JS
Holly stows away on Jean Paul’s boat and is not discovered until she exits the boat and Quito finds her in the boathouse. The boat she stowed away in, however, is little more than a rowboat, with only one level and barely enough room for three people, so it is difficult to imagine how Holly could have stayed hidden or even where she managed to stow herself.
In the Café, Tim calls Vangie Holly when he says “Holly has a sense of vibrations”
Also at the Café, Jean Paul has trouble with Vangie’s name, calling her “Angie.”
Highslide JS
Jean Paul tells Tim to pack a bag for the trip to Maljardin. Tim obediently goes to do this, but returns with only his painting supplies and no bag with clothing or toiletries, which could make Tim rather unpopular on the island.
Highslide JS
When Quito brings Holly into the main door of Maljardin, a power cable can clearly be seen across the floor.
Dr. Carr, Raxl, Mrs. Marshall and Dan Forrest are all credited, but do not appear in the episode.
