Raxl and Quito exit the secret room.  Raxl vows to free them from Jacques, and asks Erica for help because Jean Paul has unleashed the Devil.  Raxl tells Quito he will be picking up the cryonics people today, and warns that they are all trapped until they find the doll and pin.  She wonders where Jacques is now. On the mainland, Rev. Dawson preaches to his congregation.  After the sermon, the parishioners file out, and The Reverend notices Holly Marshall.   Holly is not friendly, telling him she found out that he was the one that helped her mother put her in Westley House – a home for disturbed people.  The Reverend asks Holly to be reasonable and meet her mother halfway, but she insists it’s her mother’s way or no way.  The Reverend says that when she’s 21 her mother will have no control, so he urges patience.  Holly promises to find herself on her own, without her mother or the Reverend’s help. Raxl prays that Erica will forgive her for using magic to find Jean Paul, but fire must be fought with fire.  Raxl and Quito head back to the temple.  After entering, Raxl pleads for the strength to fight the evil. At the church, Holly says goodbye to the Reverend and turns to leave but runs into her mother.  She tells her mother she’s not going back to Westley house.  The Reverend agrees that Holly is not a child and Mrs. Marshall gets upset.  She replies that the Rev. has more than a spiritual interest in Holly.  He ignores this, and insists that people must work to help themselves. In the temple, Raxl asks where Jacques is.   She challenges the devil to show himself and pledges that her power of magic will be used to fight him. At the church, Elizabeth Marshall threatens Holly with forced return to Westley House, but she ignores her and leaves.   Mrs. Marshall tells the Reverend that Holly is trouble, but the Reverend wonders if what Holly said regarding her mother is true. Raxl concludes her prayers and sends Quito to accompany Jean Paul.  She cautions him to watch for Jacques then asks for clarity to see the differences between Jean Paul and Jacques. The Reverend asks Mrs. Marshall why Holly hates her.  He says he believes Holly was hoping someone would stop her from running.  Elizabeth insists Holly needs discipline but the Reverend says she also needs love.  According to Mrs. Marshall, after her father died, Holly needed help so she sent her to Westley House.  The Reverend tells her that Holly feels that the money is more important to her mother than her well being. Mrs. Marshall is confused, telling the Reverend that it all goes to her anyway.  The Reverend pleads with Mrs. Marshall to give Holly a chance to make her own choices. In the temple, Raxl begs forgiveness for Jean Paul and asks for guidance to save him from evil. Meanwhile, Mrs. Marshall wonders why the Reverend is defending Holly.  She tells him that he’s not facing the truth about his feelings for Holly.  He denies it but she presses him.  She asks for his thoughts about her but he doesn’t answer.   Instead he upsets Elizabeth by telling her that she’s not a fit mother.   She tells the Reverend that he wants Holly for himself. Raxl emerges from the temple and tells Quito that the cryonics process is to begin.   She laments the devil’s presence. They both pray over Erica’s coffin. In church, the Reverend reflects on what he wants to do and decides he will leave the ministry to find Holly and himself.   Raxl goes to tell Jean Paul about the cryonics and as she goes up, she says “one time, the devil has to lose.” |
